Did someone say FATcarons?
A bakery in Rochdale is bringing some chunky Korean macaron goodness to the much-deserving people of Greater Manchester.
Now, we’re all aware of how good standard macarons are – in the last few years, the French dessert has boomed in popularity across the UK, with every bakery and their dog jumping on board the tasty trend (though we’re not complaining, promise.)
But have you ever tried Korean macarons?

In South Korea, supersized macarons are known as ddung-carons, which literally translates to ‘fat-carons.’ Fat macarons, basically.
While a typical French-style macaron is piped simply with one delicate layer of buttercream, its chubby Korean cousin is stuffed almost to bursting with all kinds of ingredients like whole strawberries, mochis and gigantic dollops of cream.
And now, despite these Korean treats sounding almost too good to be true, a Rochdale bakery is now delivering them across the region.
While still offering traditional French macarons, Macaron Moments has now added Fat-carons to their menu.

There’s a whole array of enticing flavours up for grabs, including chocolate, coffee, lemon, matcha and vanilla. There’s also a couple of unique flavours such as the birthday cake, pistachio, salted caramel and (obviously) Biscoff.
Customers have been raving about the chunky treats, with one writing on Etsy: “Blown away to say the least! Tried to save them but they were gone in a few hours.”
Another happy customer wrote: “Bought these as a gift for a friend. She was absolutely obsessed with them, saying they tasted and looked amazing and she would definitely order some herself, too!”
Macaron Moments are taking orders via Etsy and Instagram, so make sure to check them out for your next sweet tooth fix!
