Slattery is set to reopen next week and it’s bringing back its famous Chocolate Challenge!

It’s great news for chocolate lovers, as the Whitefield-based chocolate shop and patissier will be reopening the Dining Room alongside the shop, which has been open the past few weeks for delivery.

From July 9th, the venue will be open but might look a little bit different to normal.

There will be a reduced capacity of 57% compared to usual, to ensure customers and staff can keep good social distancing practises.

There will also be some changes to the usual menu, but customers will be pleased to hear the ever so popular Chocolate Challenge is back for another year.

Slattery’s Chocolate Challenge features a plate with a massive amount of chocolate, including a large portion of American-style chocolate fudge cake, chocolate pots filled with liquid chocolate, chocolate ice cream and more.

Only 3% of people who have attempted this beast of a challenge have actually managed to complete it! Do you think you’re up to the plate?!

In the restaurant, diners will have one hour and 45 minutes at their tables. There will be new disposable menus for each set of diners.

Staff will also schedule in 15 minutes between each booking in order to give them sufficient time to clean down tables and chairs in the dining area before the next guests arrive.

As per the government guidelines, bookings will be for a maximum of six people and can be made from this Friday.

Jo Naven, marketing manager at Slattery’s, said: “There is a separate entrance and exit in the shop, hand sanitiser on arrival at the building and also at the entrance of the dining room.

“Our staff will be wearing face shields and they are having comprehensive training over the coming days ready for reopening.

“The reduced capacity in the dining room does also help us to reduce the kitchen staff to enable us to adhere to distancing measures and we are utilising the part time furlough scheme starting tomorrow.

“There are lots of other measures in place to meet all the guidelines. It is constantly changing and we will be adapting to the new guidelines as and when realised.”

Slattery’s will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm.  Bookings can be made online only here from Friday July 3rd.
