There’s nothing quite as idyllic as a bowl of piping hot pasta drenched in mountains of cheese – but have you ever tried pasta cooked within a wheel of cheese?
While this idea sounds a little too good to be true, a Manchester restaurant has actually made it a fantastically cheesy reality.
Cibo, located in Manchester’s city centre, is already well known for its authentic Italian offerings – we’re talking pasta, pasta, pizza, pasta and a little more pizza kind of authentic.

But there’s one offering on their menu that’s turning heads – their Penne Regiano.
Okay, it does sound like the standard penne dish found in most Italian restaurants – but, in reality, there’s nothing else quite like it.
A mixture of fresh penne, cream and sage is flambéed with cognac in a huge parmesan cheese wheel right in front of you at your table.

It truly is a sight to behold – there’s cheese, there’s booze, there’s fire, and there’s more cheese. And, to make it even better, you will end up with a steaming bowl of criminally cheesy pasta to tuck into.
What’s not to love?
This dish is best enjoyed with a fine sprinkling of parmesan (because there’s no such thing as too much cheese) and a lovely Aperol Spritz or three.

And that isn’t all Cibo have on offer – if the cheesy, fiery, sagey pasta isn’t your cup of tea, the restaurant has a whole array of pasta options on offer, such as the humble spaghetti bolognese and a slightly more adventurous seafood risotto.
