The house, which dates back to 1790, is a cultural and historic gem of Salford, and is known as the ‘gingerbread house’ after the Hansel and Gretel story.

The house overlooks Old Warke Dam and was originally built to power flour mills before becoming a boating lake for the Earl of Ellesmere.
