The Prime Minister has been discharged from hospital after his battle with coronavirus.

Boris Johnson was discharged after spending six days in hospital, and is set to continue his recovery at Chequers.

After being taken to St Thomas’ Hospital in central London last Sunday, Mr Johnson was moved to ICU on Monday.

He was showing persistent Covid-19 symptoms, according to reports.

On Thursday he left intensive care but remained in hospital until today.

His partner Carrie Symonds took to Twitter to thank the NHS for their hard work in helping Mr Johnson get through the illness.

A spokesperson for No10 said: “The PM has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery, at Chequers. On the advice of his medical team, the PM will not be immediately returning to work.

“He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas’ for the brilliant care he has received. All of his thoughts are with those affected by this illness.”
