The Ashton-under-Lyne branch of B&Q was forced to closed after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

The shop shut on Sunday August 30th to allow for a ‘deep clean’ to be carried out.

A spokesperson said the closure was a ‘precautionary measure’ that went ‘beyond government advice’.

B&Q spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our Ashton-under-Lyne store temporarily closed yesterday following a team member receiving a positive Covid-19 test result.

“Closing the store for deep cleaning is a precautionary measure and goes beyond government advice.”

The store is now reopen.

The news comes just a week after fourteen members of staff at B&Q distribution centre in Swindon tested positive for the virus.

All colleagues returned to work at the centre following a negative test result.
