Tonnes of people flocked to Dovestones over the weekend and a number of people who parked illegally have been slapped with a fine.

Those parking on double yellow lines at Dovestone Reservoir this weekend ended up being hit with a parking fine.

According to social media, the beauty spot in Oldham was ‘rammed’ with people over the weekend.

Photos from the weekend show a traffic officer issuing fines on a number of cars parked illegally on the road.

The Twitter account Keep Dovestone Litter Free posted a warning that read: “If you are thinking of coming to Dovestone be aware the car park is filling rapidly and cars and people are sliding all over the place.”

A social media user wrote: “Dovestone was rammed and so was the A635 leading up the moor. Lots of large groups walking the area.”

A second added: “Wtf is wrong with people?!”

Government guidance for the new lockdown states that people should remain local when they go out to exercise, which they can do once a day.
