This weekend is set to be gloriously sunny and baking hot – we just have to get through some rain first.

Get the picnic blankets out, we’re set for another scorching weekend in the sunshine and it could be hotter than last Friday in some places!

Friday 7th is set to be the hottest day of the weekend with temperatures reaching 27C in Manchester, while other areas of the UK are set to reach a whopping 33C.

The Met Office has warned that it could be a heatwave which entails three days of temperatures over 25C across the nation and 28C in London.

On BBC Breakfast, BBC meteorologist Matt Taylor said: “In the second half of the week, temperatures are set to climb across the country once again.

“Once we hit Friday and Saturday, we could be in the very hot category once more, especially across the eastern half of the country.

“Today it will be warm when the sun’s out, cooler when the cloud is around.”

The Met Office has said it will warm up day by day with the weather due to change in the wind direction.

A statement on the Met Office website said: “Thursday will begin cloudy, though some brightness should appear in the afternoon.

“Friday and Saturday turn mostly bright or sunny away from immediate coastlines. Warming up day by day.”

Sunshine is predicted for Saturday with highs of around 22C while Sunday is set to have a mix of sun and clouds. Monday should be even warmer with temperatures expected to reach 24C.
