Firefighters were called to IKEA in Ashton this afternoon after a van caught on fire outside.
People on Twitter posted images of the incident, with large plumes of smoke and fire seen rising above the store.
The incident looks to have happened in the Swedish superstore’s car park.
Luckily no injuries have been reported, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Dale Fricke, IKEA Manchester Safety and Security Manager, said: “We are able to confirm that an isolated incident occurred in the IKEA Manchester store on Thursday the 12th of December, whereby a fire started in our car park.
“The store was swiftly evacuated and the emergency services were called. The incident will be investigated, and the store is now open for business as usual.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed firefighters were called late this afternoon, saying: “We were called at 4.01pm to reports of a vehicle fire, and one fire engine from Stalybridge fire station is currently in attendance.”
