A south Manchester boozer has been forced to close for a deep clean after a member of the staff tested positive for coronavirus.

The Friendship Inn will temporarily shut while it’s cleaned, reopening again this Thursday, September 3rd.

On social media the Fallowfield pub, located on Wilmslow Road, said ‘there’s no immediate reason for customers to be concerned’.

However, they urged anyone with symptoms to follow the official guidelines from the government to protect others.

The pub said on Facebook: “Unfortunately one member of our staff team has been tested positive for Covid-19. We have therefore temporarily closed the premises as a precaution.

“We have stringent policies in place to deal with such an incident and the safety of our customers and staff remain our utmost priority.”

The statement continued: “As a responsible operator, we have taken the decision to perform a deep clean of the premises and we will re-open again for business on Thursday 3rd September as normal.

“Whilst there is no immediate cause for concern, as always, if you do display any symptoms of Covid-19 please protect others and follow the government guidelines.

“We are following all the necessary protocols and guidance at this time.”
