A £700,000 Crowdfunder has been set up by someone going by ‘Miss Unknown’ to buy the Trafford Centre.

In case you missed it, over two months ago the Trafford Centre’s owner filed for administration. It is now seeking a buyer for the £1.7 billion shopping centre.

Although it was last valued at £1.7billion, experts have predicted that it will sell for around 20% less than that given the current economic situation.

Despite the potentially massive price tag, a wishful person has set up a GoFundMe with a goal of just £700,000, with plans to buy the Trafford Centre with the money.

The crowdfunder, which was set up anonymously five days ago, has a description littered with so many spelling mistakes it might just be a wishful teenager after a really big Christmas present.

The description reads: “I want too buy the Trafford Centre too make sure the place we all know and love is still available! The Trafford Centre is such a bug part of Manchester and our Community so I would love your support and help! Please share!! [sic]”

At the time of writing only £20 has been raised, so it might take Miss Anonymous quite a while to reach her goal.

Unfortunately, it does mean that if you donate your hard-earned dollar to the cause you won’t actually be the owner. Only Miss Unknown will be – if she actually buys it, that is.

It sounds like a potential scam so maybe don’t actually donate, but it’s nice to see someone have so much faith in the community of Manchester, at least…
