Tom Parker, known for singing in the band The Wanted, shared the tragic news on Instagram this morning.

The former band member has today confirmed he has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour.

The 32-year-old took to Instagram to share the news. He wrote: “Hey guys, you know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why.

“There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.

“We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.

“We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way. We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.

“It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this. Tom and Kelsey xxx”

Tom first went to A&E after suffering a seizure in July, he was then put on a waiting list for an MRI scan. Six weeks later Tom had another seizure and was given his heartbreaking diagnosis.

Tom and his wife Kelsey spoke to OK! Magazine, Tom said: “I’m still in complete shock, it’s so much to take in.”

His wife added: “It has been a crazy six weeks. We had an inkling that something was wrong in July, but we never could have imagined it was this.

“It still doesn’t feel real. I don’t think Tom will ever process this information. It’s horrendous. Watching your partner go through this is so hard, because how can I tell him to not let it consume him?”

Speaking of the moment she found out, as Tom was in the hospital alone due to the pandemic, Kelsey said: “It was like everything stopped. Obviously being told you have any tumour is bad, but to be told you have the worst one is a lot to take in. All I could think was, ‘What’s going to happen and what is our life now?’.”

Tom and Kelsey have a one-year-old daughter and Kelsey is currently pregnant with their second baby.

Tom said he wants to beat this and is starting chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and has decided not to get a prognosis.

We wish you all the best Tom, our thoughts are with you, your friends and family at this difficult time.
