Dawn French hints Vicar of Dibley Christmas Special is coming

There is some light at the end of 2020! Dawn French has revealed we’re getting a Vicar of Dibley Christmas special.

13 years after the show last aired, back in 2007, the show returned in April this year as part of BBC’s charity night, Big Night In.

Dawn – who plays Vicar Geraldine told Heart what she saw ahead for the future of the show, dropping a huge bombshell that we wouldn’t have to wait very long to see Geraldine and friends back on our screens.

She said “I don’t think I’d do a film, although I’d never rule out anything, but there is a little something coming for Christmas. It’s gorgeous, and I can’t tell you any more than that, sadly.” (eeeep!!!)

The Vicar of Dibley has been an iconic TV program since it first aired on the BBC back in 1994. Since it dropped on Netflix earlier this year, it picked up a whole new generation of fans, who are now of course completely in-love with Geraldine and co.

Speaking of the new generation watching the show, Dawn said: “I know they are. Through Twitter I get feedback from people, especially in the lockdown, people were settling down with their families and looking for things that they could all watch together that granny and grandson and everyone in the middle could all watch, and that’s what they decided on, which is great.

“It just brings a whole new audience of young people who wouldn’t know me from Adam.”

We don’t know about you but we’ve got everything crossed for a massive special!!
