Fans left speechless as she took stage on the BBC dance show on Saturday night.
The inspirational Nicola Adams became the first female amateur boxer to with an Olympic gold medal at London 2012 as well as becoming double Olympic champion following her second gold medal win in Rio 2016.
Not just that, she’s the first boxer in history to retain an Olympic title.
Now, making history again as she partners up with Katya Jones on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing to become the first same sex couple to ever be on the show.
In a previous interview, Nicola said “I’m a huge fan of the show and am thrilled to be part of something that holds such a special place in so many hearts.”
“I also wanted to thank the BBC for supporting me and making me the first ever all female-pairing; and it’s amazing to be a part of the movement for change, diversity and breaking boundaries in the entertainment industry.”
The judges were astounded by the pair and described their performance as ‘an absolutely joyful ray of sunshine’, leaving some viewers close to tears.
“Just had a little cry about how loudly and proudly herself Nicola Adams is and what a brilliant pairing this is,” said one viewer on Twitter.
Another fan said “Tonight Strictly taught us so much. There was cheer, innovation, safety, hope, sparkle and Nicola Adams. Thank you for making my little girls dance again. Hats off to every one of you @bbcstrictly.”
