While the country deals with the coronavirus pandemic, our brave NHS workers are on the frontline day in day out risking their lives.

As a result of this tireless work, some NHS staff have died fighting the virus, and this morning Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid paid tribute to all 105 of them.

The Good Morning Britain presenters paid an emotional tribute to all the health workers who have died while on the NHS and social care frontline.

A screen lit up behind Piers and Susanna with the faces of every NHS worker who has died, giving their name and their occupation.

Piers said: “Can I say, one thing people have spotted there is how extraordinarily multicultural and diverse both the NHS and social care system is”.

Dr Hilary Jones agreed, saying: “Absolutely, the NHS would fall apart without them”.

Dr Hilary added: “When I watch that roll call of honour, I felt emotional, I felt very humbled and I think very proud to consider what they represent what they’ve done in their careers.

“I was also moved by the fact that we need to understand why some people, with mixed ethnicities, different age groups and different roles in this fight in coronavirus why some get this disease so severely.”
