A mum shared a collection of photos that show just how much mould gets inside kids’ bath toys.
From rubber ducks to trucks, kids often taken plenty of plastic toys into the bath with them but one mum has cut them open and what lurks inside is pretty disgusting…
The mum took to Facebook to pass the message on, she said: “For those of you who saw the post I shared the other day of the little boy who accidentally squirted himself in the eye with one of his bath toys and it got really bad infected, y’all…
“I just cut my kids bath toys open and needless to say, they are all going in the trash and I will never buy another and I would suggest you all do the same! “
She added: “They say Mold grows in them because they’re never able to fully dry out! I’ve never been more disgusted in my life!!”
She then edited the post to add a disclaimer that read “Yes I clean my kids toys but you cannot dry them out fully, therefore mould grows because it’s wet”
The post has racked up almost 270,000 shares of concerned parents.
One wrote “I found that out years ago and got rid of those toys. They get really icky.”
A second wrote: “I’m glad you’re posting this to warn other parents.” while a third added ‘ugh that’s disgusting’.
Another mum said that ‘bath toys should have some kind of warning, not everyone thinks about it [cleaning them]’.
One mum commented a handy life hack saying “Hot glue the hole before they ever go in the water and it will prevent it. yeah it takes away the squirting water part, but they never know it’s a squirt toy to start. it’s just a tub toy.”
A second mum added ‘kiddies still enjoy ones that are closed to water, no problem!’
